About CoatYard

Uniflex in stock, and a scan before you decide

CoatYard is an online roofing supplier: an authorized reseller of the Sherwin-Williams Uniflex roofing line that holds the coatings, primers, fabrics and sealants in stock and ships them to contractors and building owners. For commercial flat roofs we also arrange a drone moisture scan and can introduce an installer. We never apply the coating ourselves.

What we do

Owners start with the scan, contractors with the stock

Coating makers, Sherwin-Williams included, require wet insulation to be found and replaced before a coating goes on. So for a building owner the scan comes first, and nothing about the roof has to be decided until you have seen the map. Contractors come to us for the materials, and can ask for the scan on a client's roof too.

  1. We arrange a drone moisture scan: a map of the areas that look wet, video from the flight and a written assessment
  2. We stock genuine Sherwin-Williams Uniflex by the pail, drum and tote, sealed, and name the right build-up for each roof type
  3. We can introduce an installer from our network, anywhere in the US, to look at the roof and say whether it can be restored
  4. Roofing and coating contractors who apply these systems can ask to join that network through the quote form

How the scan works

What we do not do

Six things we do not do, and who does

A restoration passes through several hands, and each decision belongs to one of them. These are not ours. We say so before you ask, and we tell you who to ask instead.

Apply the coating A roofing contractor: yours, or an installer we introduce. We never do the roofing work ourselves.
Issue the system warranty Sherwin-Williams. It offers UNIGUARD system warranties of 10 or 15 years when one of its authorized contractors applies the system, issued under its own terms.
Diagnose the roof The roofing contractor who looks at the roof, with core samples to confirm what the scan marked. Our scan is a screening read, not a diagnosis.
Give structural advice The building's engineer: what the deck carries, why the roof deflects and what may be added to it.
Answer code and permit questions The local building department: whether another layer is permitted at the address and what permits the work needs.
Give tax advice The owner's accountant decides how the work is treated on the books. Many owners treat restoration as maintenance for tax purposes — worth a word with your CPA.

Who does what, step by step

How we work, and where

What to expect when you ask

  • A person answers

Every scan request, quote request and question is read and answered by a person.

We reply within one business day. Quotes

  • Quotes are written

Materials are priced per project. The quote names the price, the freight to your site and the ship date, and nothing is ordered until you confirm it.

  • Data sheets with the quote

Rates, cure times and surface preparation come from the data sheet for each part number, never from memory. Ask, and the current product and safety data sheets come with your quote.

  • Anywhere in the US

Drone moisture scans for commercial low-slope roofs, installer introductions and the materials, for buildings anywhere in the US.

How a request moves

From one form to the roof

Scan requests and material quotes go through the same form and reach the same people. The scan and the installer are steps only if you want them.

  1. Send the form

For a scan, the building's address and your role; for materials, the part numbers, or the roof type and the square footage. The form asks for the roof area, the state and the ZIP either way.

  2. A person replies within one business day

With a written quote, or with the questions we still need answered: the scan quoted for that roof, which depends on its size and where the building is, or the materials with freight to the site and a ship date.

  3. The scan, with the owner's go-ahead

Flown on a clear, dry, calm evening after a sunny day, and only with the owner's written go-ahead. The owner gets the map, video from the flight and the written assessment; small core samples then confirm the flagged areas.

  4. An installer, if you want one

We introduce one from the network we work with, anywhere in the US, who looks at the roof and says whether it is a good candidate for restoration. Already have a contractor? We quote the materials for them.

  5. Confirm, and it ships

The order is placed when you confirm the written quote. Stocked items ship in 1–3 business days: pails by parcel, drums and totes by freight.

Questions

Fair questions about who we are

Five things worth knowing before you send a request. The FAQ page has the rest.

Are you Sherwin-Williams?
No. CoatYard is an authorized reseller of the Sherwin-Williams Uniflex roofing line, not Sherwin-Williams and not its agent. Sherwin-Williams makes the products and issues any system warranty under its own terms. We hold the products in stock and sell them under their Sherwin-Williams part numbers.
Are the products genuine?
Yes. Every product is listed under its Sherwin-Williams part number and ships in the maker's sealed packaging, so you can check each one against the specification and its data sheet. The goods carry our seller's warranty: they match their description and are free of manufacturing defects when delivered.
How is the scan flown?
We arrange the flight; the map comes to you. A drone with a thermal camera flies the roof once the sun has set, on a clear, dry, calm evening after a sunny day, and only with the owner's written go-ahead. You get a map with every area that looks wet outlined and measured in square feet, video from the flight and a written assessment; small core samples then confirm the flagged areas. It suits low-slope roofs with insulation under a membrane, not ballasted, metal panel or already white-coated roofs, and we say so: those are surveyed another way.
Who applies the coating?
A roofing contractor, never us. If you already have one, we quote the materials for them. If you want one, we work with a network of installers, roofing contractors who apply these systems, and can introduce you to one anywhere in the US, who looks at the roof and says whether it is a good candidate for restoration. Contractors who apply these systems can ask to join the network through the quote form.
Where are you?
Online. A person reads the quote form and the email address at the foot of every page, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm Eastern, and replies within one business day. The materials are stocked in the US and ship to any US site. We arrange drone moisture scans for commercial low-slope roofs anywhere in the US, and can introduce an installer anywhere in the US too.

Start with the scan, or send the part numbers

Owners: send the building's address and we quote the scan for that roof. Contractors: send the part numbers, or the roof type and the square footage, with the site ZIP. Either way, a person replies within one business day.
