What you are buying
What the spec calls for, in the pack you need
A specification names the build-up by Sherwin-Williams part number. We stock those part numbers in the pail, drum and tote sizes a job runs on, and stocked items ship in 1–3 business days.
-
Genuine and sealed
CoatYard is an authorized reseller of the Sherwin-Williams Uniflex roofing line. Each product is listed under its Sherwin-Williams part number and ships in the maker's sealed packaging.
-
Pail, drum or tote
Every coating comes by the 5-gallon pail and most by the 55-gallon drum. Seven also come by the 275-gallon tote: KST041300, KST041500, KST041320, KST041510 (white), KST041520, KST042100 and KST042200.
-
The right build-up for each roof
The roof decides the primer and whether a base coat goes on: an acrylic finish goes over one, Silicone44 goes on without. The table below gives each build-up by part number.
-
Data sheets with the quote
Ask on the quote request and we send the current product data sheet and safety data sheet for each part number with the price. The rate, the preparation and the cure come from them.
Systems by roof type
The build-up for each roof, by part number
What the roof is made of decides the primer; the finish decides the base coat. An acrylic finish goes over one, Silicone44 takes none. Each row runs in the order the work goes on. A written specification wins over this table, and the adhesion test settles whether the system holds.
| Metal, acrylic finish | Rust-inhibitive primer KST034520 on corroded steel or KST036520 on pre-finished panels → seam tape KST020804 → base coat KST041320 → finish coat KST041300 |
|---|---|
| EPDM, acrylic finish | Wash primer KST038620, rinsed → bonding tape KST058006 at the details → single-ply base coat KST041321 → finish coat KST041300 |
| TPO and PVC, acrylic finish | Pressure wash → bonding tape KST058006 at the details → single-ply base coat KST041321 → finish coat KST041300; on PVC the adhesion test settles the build-up |
| Hypalon (CSPE), acrylic finish | Pressure wash → butyl seam tape KST020804 at the details, coated the same day → base coat KST041321 → finish KST041300. Any sealant: confirmed with Uniflex and an adhesion test first |
| Modified bitumen and built-up, acrylic finish | Smooth or granulated: no primer → fabric KST20385B at the details → MB base coat KST041510 as the first coat → finish coat KST041300 |
| Spray foam, acrylic finish | Wet or damaged foam cut out and replaced first → patching cement KST041220 at splits and small holes → base coat KST041520 → finish coat KST041300 |
| Concrete deck, acrylic finish | Concrete primer KST036500 → fabric KST20385A at the details → base coat KST041320 → finish coat KST041300 |
| Where water stands | Silicone44 KST044300 (white) or KST044320 (gray), with no base coat; or, on metal, foam and asphaltic roofs, the solvent-based base KST042200 and finish KST042100 |
| Drainage under silicone | Silicone44 resists standing water but does not fix drainage: the silicone specifications still expect at least 1/4 in per ft of slope and working drains |
| Metal, Silicone44 | Fasteners tightened, laps open over 1/8 in fastened → KST034520 on every rusted area, cured → laps and seams striped with Silicone44 → field coat of Silicone44 KST044300 (white) |
| Pre-finished metal panels, Silicone44 | An adhesion test decides whether any primer is needed: send us the roof. KST036520 is the primer for the acrylic system only |
| EPDM, Silicone44 | Wash primer KST038620, rinsed and dried → open seams and flashings sealed with KST058310 → Silicone44 KST044300 (white); no base coat. New EPDM takes a different primer: ask us |
| TPO and PVC, Silicone44 | Wash → adhesion test → open seams sealed with KST058310 → Silicone44 KST044300 (white) directly; no primer on weathered membrane, no base coat. New TPO or PVC: ask us |
| Hypalon (CSPE), where water stands | Send us the roof: no Uniflex silicone document covers Hypalon, so the primer under silicone comes from Uniflex in writing, after an adhesion test |
| Modified bitumen and built-up, Silicone44 | Bleed Blocker Primer where the asphalt may bleed (not stocked: ask us) → seams sealed with KST058310 → Silicone44 KST044300 (white); no MB base coat, no asphalt primer |
| Spray foam, Silicone44 | Wet or damaged foam cut out and replaced → adhesion test → Silicone44 KST044300 (white) directly; no primer, no base coat |
| Concrete deck, Silicone44 | Cured 29 days or more, moisture 15% or less, sealers removed → wider cracks reinforced with fabric KST20385A (Uniflex's crack sealant is not stocked) → Silicone44 directly |
| Over an existing coating, Silicone44 | Sound, aged acrylic, silicone or urethane coating washed, loose coating scraped back, adhesion tests passed → Silicone44 KST044300 (white) directly |
| Silicone44 at curbs and penetrations | Uniflex's silicone specifications use its OneFlash sealant there, which we do not stock: ask on the quote |
| Silicone44 adhesion test | A patch with a fabric strip embedded, left three days and pulled: Uniflex looks for at least 2 lb per inch, and a lower result goes to Uniflex, which names the primer |

Tools
Tools that do the counting
Three tools for the takeoff and the owner's question. The estimator holds no coverage rate: you type the figure from the data sheet, so the count matches the product you are buying. The cost ranges are drawn from published industry figures; the roof's condition, how much wet insulation has to come out, access and region move the number.
- System finder: pick the roof and whether water stands on it, and get the primer, detail materials and coats by part number, with a base coat only where the system has one
- Material estimator: the roof area, the coats and the data-sheet rates in; gallons, pails, drums and rolls out
- Cost calculator, for the owner's conversation: restoring typically runs $3.50 to $7 per sq ft installed and replacing typically runs $10 to $18. Typical ranges, not a quote
Drone moisture scan
A scan for the roof you are bidding
Coating makers, Sherwin-Williams included, require wet insulation to be found and replaced before a coating goes on. With the owner's written go-ahead we arrange a drone moisture scan: on an evening after a sunny day a drone with a thermal camera flies the roof, and wet insulation, which holds the day's heat longer than dry, shows up warmer. The owner gets a map with any areas that look wet outlined and measured in square feet, video from the flight and a written assessment. The scan marks suspects; the cores confirm them, and what they confirm is the cut-out you price.
- The map pictured is a sample from a real scan, with the address, the people and the companies removed and the map re-oriented: about 50,000 sq ft, 28 areas flagged, 1,929 sq ft in all, none cored
- Sherwin-Williams' guide specification asks for a moisture inspection of all roof areas and a roof plan of the wet areas before coating; what it accepts is for Sherwin-Williams to say
- Uniflex requires a moisture survey by a qualified person on every system-warranty project, and a third-party survey for a 15-year request; whether a survey is accepted is its call
- It needs a sunny day, then a clear, dry, calm evening. Ballasted or heavy-gravel, metal panel, highly reflective or already white-coated, and closed-cell foam roofs are surveyed another way
- We arrange scans for commercial low-slope roofs anywhere in the US and quote the scan when you ask; it depends on the roof's size and where the building is
Installer network
Join the installer network
Building owners ask us for installers anywhere in the US. We work with a network of installers, roofing contractors who apply these systems, and introduce owners to one when they ask. If your crews apply these systems, you can ask to join: send the company name and the states you cover through the quote form, and a person answers.
- For roofing and coating contractors who apply these restoration systems on commercial low-slope roofs
- Send the company name and the states you cover; a person reads every request and replies
- Joining our network is separate from Sherwin-Williams' own authorized-contractor program
How ordering works
From part numbers to a ship date
Pails, drums, totes and whole roofs are priced on a written quote with freight, and the order is placed when you confirm it. No takeoff yet? The estimator turns the roof area and the data-sheet rates into pails, drums and rolls.
-
Send the part numbers or the roof
Part numbers and quantities, or the roof type and the square footage, with the site ZIP and the access: dock, forklift or lift-gate. Say whether a Sherwin-Williams system warranty is wanted.
-
Price, freight and ship date
A person replies with a written price, freight to the site and the ship date. Drums and totes are priced by the pallet, and regulated goods are quoted as regulated freight.
-
Confirm
Confirm and the order is placed. Stocked items ship in 1–3 business days; anything ordered in is named on the quote with its window.
-
Shipped with tracking
Pails and cartons go by parcel or pallet, drums and totes by freight, with a lift-gate where there is no dock. You get tracking and the ship-by date; note any damage on the delivery receipt before you sign.

Guides
Read before you write the scope
The working notes behind the system table and the estimator.
- Which coating system goes over which roof
The acrylic and the silicone build-up for each roof: metal, EPDM, TPO, PVC, Hypalon, BUR, cap sheet, foam and concrete, with the part numbers.
- How to estimate material for a roof coating job
Area to squares, an allowance for texture and waste, the data-sheet rate per square per coat, round up to pails and drums, then count the detail materials.
- From moisture map to restoration scope and material count

For roofing contractors: core the flagged areas, mark the cut-outs on the roof plan, then count primer, details and coats off the same plan.
- Primers under roof coatings: what each substrate needs
Whether a roof coating needs a primer depends on the substrate. Here is what metal, single-ply, asphaltic, concrete and foam roofs take, and what settles it.
- Seams, fasteners and flashings: where restoration is won or lost
Reinforce every seam, fastener row and flashing before the field coats: butyl tape on metal, bonding tape on single-ply, fabric on asphaltic roofs.
- Wet mils, dry mils and coverage: the math behind a coating job
Dry mils are wet mils times volume solids, and a gallon over 100 sq ft is about 16 wet mils. Here are the formulas, worked examples and the checks on the roof.
