KST058310 Uniflex MS Hybrid Roofing Sealant, Black, 10 oz Cartridge
- Ms hybrid sealant
- Sold by the case
Black MS hybrid sealant in a 10 oz cartridge, 24 per case. The natural color for EPDM work, and the seam and flashing sealant in the Silicone44 build-ups. Its current data sheet lists EPDM, aged TPO, aged PVC and metal; new TPO or PVC needs a primer first. Service listed from -40 F to 200 F.
Key benefits
- Black matches EPDM, so a seam or patch detail does not read as a repair
- Listed for EPDM and for aged TPO and PVC as they are, the single-ply membranes the polyurethane cartridges leave out
- Seals open seams and flashings ahead of Silicone44 on EPDM, TPO, PVC, built-up and modified bitumen roofs
- Service temperature listed from -40 F to 200 F; tack free in 40 minutes with a 4 day cure
- 10 oz cartridges, 24 per case, alongside white and a clear grade

Overview
EPDM is black, so a black sealant is the one that finishes a detail without documenting it. KST058310 is the Uniflex MS hybrid in black, a 10 oz cartridge packed 24 to the case, and it is the cartridge most single-ply service work runs on. It is also the seam and flashing sealant in the Silicone44 build-ups: on EPDM, weathered TPO and PVC, smooth built-up and modified bitumen, open seams and flashings are sealed with it before Silicone44 goes on.
Its current data sheet lists EPDM, aged TPO, aged PVC and metal, and says no primer is needed on most surfaces. New TPO or PVC membrane is the exception: it needs a primer first, so ask us which before you order. It is not for white EPDM, and it does not name Hypalon. The maker lists application from 30 F to 120 F, service from -40 F to 200 F, tack free at 40 minutes and full cure at 4 days. White is KST058300, the clear grade is KST058350, and where a tear needs covering rather than a joint filling, the 6 in bonding tape is the matching MS hybrid in tape form.
Application
- Clean the detail back to sound, dry material and remove dirt, chalk and any residue the data sheet names.
- Prime only where the sheet calls for it: aged TPO and PVC, EPDM and metal go without; new TPO or PVC takes a primer first.
- Do the detail work before any field coating, and use the fleece-backed bonding tape where the defect is a tear or a hole instead of a joint.
- Gun a full bead, tool it so both faces wet out, and let it alone afterwards. Tack free in 40 minutes is not the same as cured.
- Follow the manufacturer’s product data sheet for preparation, bead size, cure and anything that may be applied over the sealant.
Ordering
KST058310 is sold in 10 oz cartridges, 24 to a case, one color per case. Stocked cases ship in 1 to 3 business days; off-shelf colors run 1 to 2 weeks. Pallet quantities and any pails, drums or totes on the same order move as freight and are priced through the quote form; send the part numbers, quantities, site ZIP and your dates. Every price is quoted per project.
Where it's used
-
EPDM seams and patches
Seam edges, patch perimeters and terminations on black EPDM, where the sealant is the finished detail and the color should disappear. Not for white EPDM.
-
Aged TPO and PVC work
Details on weathered TPO and PVC, which its current data sheet lists without a primer. New TPO or PVC needs a primer first: ask us which before you order.
-
Seams under Silicone44
Open seams and flashings on EPDM, weathered TPO and PVC, smooth built-up and modified bitumen, sealed before Silicone44 goes on, as the silicone build-ups for those roofs call for.
-
Dark coated metal
Panel laps, fastener heads and trim on bronze, brown and black coated metal, where a white bead would show.
-
Pipe boots and drain collars
Boot collars, sleeves and drain flange details on membrane roofs, gunned and tooled to close the joint.
-
Curb and hatch bases
The base joint at equipment curbs, roof hatches and vents on single-ply roofs, which see both movement and heat.

Questions
- Is black the right choice on an EPDM roof?
- For exposed detail work on black EPDM, usually yes: a black bead is the least visible finish. Under a coating system the color matters less because the coating covers it. It is not for white EPDM.
- Does TPO or PVC need a primer first?
- On aged TPO and PVC, no: the current data sheet lists them as they are. New TPO or PVC membrane needs a primer first, so tell us the age of the roof and ask us which before you order. EPDM and metal are listed without a primer.
- Can it be used on Hypalon?
- Not without checking. Its data sheet does not name Hypalon (CSPE), and none of our cartridge sealants does. On Hypalon the sealant is confirmed with the manufacturer's technical service and an adhesion test before the order, so tell us the membrane type. The butyl seam tape is the detail product listed for Hypalon.
- Is this the sealant for a Silicone44 job?
- For open seams and flashings, yes: the silicone build-ups for EPDM, TPO, PVC, built-up and modified bitumen roofs seal them with this black MS hybrid before the coating. At curbs and penetrations Uniflex's silicone specifications use its OneFlash sealant, which we do not stock; ask on the quote.
- How does it differ from the black polyurethane?
- Different chemistry and a different list. KST058110 is polyurethane for metal, masonry, wood and shingles. This MS hybrid adds the single-ply membranes and has a wider stated service range.
- What are the cure times?
- The maker lists 40 minutes tack free and 4 days cure for the black and white grades. The clear grade is listed separately at 75 minutes and 1 day.
- What is the lead time?
- Stocked cases ship in 1 to 3 business days. If the color is off the shelf when your order lands, it is ordered in and takes 1 to 2 weeks.
