KST058110 Uniflex Polyurethane Roofing Sealant, Black, 10.1 oz Cartridge
- Polyurethane sealant
- Sold by the case
Black is the color that disappears on a bituminous roof, a dark metal panel or a shingle detail. KST058110 is the same single-component Uniflex polyurethane as the white cartridge, 10.1 oz, 24 per case, listed from -20 F to 150 F for application and service.
Key benefits
- Black reads as part of the roof on modified bitumen, dark metal and asphalt shingle work
- Single-component polyurethane, so nothing is mixed on the roof and a half cartridge is the only waste
- Listed for application and service from -20 F to 150 F
- Tack free in 3 hours and cured in a day, as stated by the maker
- 10.1 oz cartridges packed 24 to the case, with white and gray on the same shelf

Overview
Color matters more on a sealant than it looks like it should, because a gunned bead is often the finished surface. On a modified bitumen roof, a bronze metal panel or a shingle valley, a white bead announces every repair. KST058110 is the black cartridge of the Uniflex general-purpose polyurethane, and it is the one most service trucks carry.
Underneath the color it is the same material as KST058100 in white and KST058120 in gray: a single-component polyurethane listed for steel, aluminum, coated metal (Kynar), masonry, wood and asphalt shingles, tack free in 3 hours, cured in a day, with application and service both listed from -20 F to 150 F. It comes in a 10.1 oz cartridge, 24 to the case.
Application
- Open up a joint that is clean, dry and sound. Rake out failed sealant, take off rust scale and get oil and dust off both faces.
- Prime where the substrate calls for it, using a rust-inhibitive metal primer on steel and the matching primer on concrete or single-ply.
- Details go in before the field is coated. Seal the joints, tape or reinforce what the specification reinforces, then coat.
- Gun a full bead and tool it into the joint so it wets both sides. Depth matters as much as the line the bead makes.
- Follow the manufacturer’s product data sheet for joint design, bead size, cure and what may be applied over the sealant.
Ordering
KST058110 is sold by the 10.1 oz cartridge and by the case of 24. Stocked cases ship in 1 to 3 business days; anything off the shelf is ordered in and takes 1 to 2 weeks. Pallets of cases, and the drums or totes of coating shipping with them, are freight and are priced through the quote form with the part numbers, quantities, site ZIP and your dates. Every price is quoted per project.
Where it's used
-
Modified bitumen details
Laps, terminations and penetration collars on modified bitumen and built-up roofs, where a black bead is the least visible finish.
-
Dark metal panels and trim
Fastener heads, panel laps, ridge and eave trim on bronze, brown and black coated metal (Kynar) panels.
-
Asphalt shingle work
Step flashings, valley terminations and penetration details on shingle roofs, which the maker lists among the substrates.
-
Masonry and coping joints
Parapet copings, reglets and wall joints in masonry, where the joint moves and needs a flexible seal rather than a mortar patch.
-
Gutters and downspout joints
Lapped seams and outlet joints in dark-finished gutters, gunned and tooled so the bead wets both faces of the joint.

Questions
- Is the black cartridge a different sealant?
- No. KST058100 in white, KST058110 in black and KST058120 in gray are the same single-component polyurethane with the same listed substrates, temperatures and cure times. Only the color changes.
- Will a black bead show through a white coating?
- The coating is opaque, so a tooled bead under a white system is usually not visible. Where the sealant is the finished detail, pick the color that matches the surface it sits on.
- Can it be used on EPDM, TPO or PVC?
- Those membranes are not on this sealant's substrate list. The MS hybrid sealants are the ones listed for EPDM, TPO and PVC: the black KST058310 over aged TPO and PVC as they are, the white over TPO and PVC primed with KST058700.
- Standard or fast-skin?
- This grade is listed tack free in 3 hours. If a joint has to skin over sooner because of foot traffic or weather, KST058210 is the black fast-skin version at 40 minutes.
- How does ordering work?
- Cartridges and cases go on the quote form with the part number, quantity, site ZIP and your dates. Stocked cases ship in 1 to 3 business days; off-shelf items run 1 to 2 weeks.
