Overview
Single-ply roofs are where most sealants run out of substrate list. TPO, PVC and EPDM are not metal or masonry, and a cartridge that is not listed for them has no business on that roof. KST058300 is the Uniflex MS hybrid in white, the grade whose list reads coated metal (Kynar), EPDM, primed TPO, primed PVC and metal.
Two numbers make it the choice for exposed membrane details. The service range is listed from -40 F to 200 F, wider than anything else in the cartridge range, and it is listed tack free in 40 minutes with a 4 day cure. Application is listed from 30 F to 120 F, so it wants a reasonable day. On TPO and PVC the membrane has to be prepared with KST058700 first; on EPDM it goes on directly. Black is KST058310, whose current data sheet lists aged TPO and PVC without a primer, and the clear grade is KST058350.
Application
- Get the detail clean, dry and sound. Membrane needs its surface cleaned of dirt, chalk and residue as the data sheet requires.
- Prime by substrate: TPO and PVC take the aerosol adhesion promoter, coated metal takes the metal preparation the sheets call for, EPDM takes neither.
- Seal and reinforce the details before any field coating, using the fleece-backed bonding tape where the defect is a tear rather than a joint.
- Gun a full bead and tool it so both faces wet out, then leave it alone. It is tack free in 40 minutes but cures over days.
- Follow the manufacturer’s product data sheet for surface preparation, bead size, cure and what may be applied over the sealant.
Ordering
KST058300 comes in 10 oz cartridges, 24 to the case. Stocked cases ship in 1 to 3 business days, and anything off the shelf is ordered in and takes 1 to 2 weeks. Pallet quantities, and the drums or totes of coating shipping with them, are quoted as freight through the quote form with the part numbers, quantities, site ZIP and your dates. Every price is quoted per project.
Where it's used
-
Single-ply membrane details
Seams, patches and terminations on EPDM, and on TPO and PVC once the membrane has been prepared with the KST058700 promoter.
-
Coated metal roofs
Panel laps, fastener heads and trim joints on coated metal (Kynar) and bare metal, where the sealant has to stay flexible in the sun.
-
Pipe boots and curbs on membrane roofs
Boot collars, sleeve details and the base of equipment curbs on a single-ply roof, gunned and tooled as the finished detail.
-
Termination bars and reglets
The seal above a termination bar or in a reglet at a parapet, where the detail sees movement and heat.
-
Wide temperature exposure
Roofs that swing between winter cold and summer deck temperatures, which is what the -40 F to 200 F service range is stated for.

Questions
- Do TPO and PVC need priming first?
- Yes. The substrate list reads primed TPO and primed PVC, and KST058700 is the 14 oz aerosol promoter that prepares them. EPDM is listed without a promoter.
- Why choose this over the polyurethane cartridges?
- Because of the substrate list. The polyurethanes cover metal, masonry, wood and shingles but not single-ply membranes. This one covers membranes and coated metal, and its listed service range is wider.
- How long before it is cured?
- The maker lists 40 minutes to tack free and 4 days to cure for the white and black grades. The clear grade, KST058350, is listed at 75 minutes and 1 day.
- Can it be applied in cold weather?
- It is listed from 30 F to 120 F, so it is the least cold-tolerant of the cartridge sealants for application. The fleece-backed bonding tapes go down from 0 F if the temperature is the problem.
- What sizes are there?
- 10 oz in white and black, 9.5 oz in clear, 24 cartridges per case. Put the colors and quantities on one quote request and they ship together.
