KST041520 Uniflex Commercial-Grade Acrylic Elastomeric Base Coat, Gray

  • Commercial acrylic base coat
  • Sold by the pail

The commercial-grade gray acrylic elastomeric in the Uniflex line, listed as a base coat or a finish coat on metal, concrete and polyurethane foam. It carries fabric and seam tape at the details, and it is stocked in 5-gallon pails and 55-gallon drums, with the 275-gallon tote ordered in.

Key benefits

  • The commercial grade of the gray acrylic elastomeric family: same two roles as the premium KST041320, a different grade on the data sheet
  • Listed for either role: base coat or finish coat on metal, concrete and polyurethane foam
  • Gray under a white finish coat, which makes a missed area obvious on the second pass
  • Listed for use with polyester fabric or seam tape, so seams, fastener rows and flashings are reinforced inside the system
  • Stocked in the 5-gallon pail and the 55-gallon drum, which covers a detail scope and a whole roof; the 275-gallon tote is ordered in

Overview

KST041520 is the commercial grade of the gray acrylic elastomeric, sitting beside the premium KST041320 with the same two roles on its data sheet: a base coat or a finish coat on metal, concrete and polyurethane foam. Which grade a job uses is usually decided by the specification rather than by the roof.

Everything about how it is used matches the premium. It is the coat that carries polyester fabric and seam tape at the seams, fastener rows and flashings, and gray under a white top coat makes the second pass inspectable. We stock it in pails and drums with KST036520 and KST036500 as the metal and concrete primers, KST020385 polyester fabric, and KST041500, the commercial-grade white, as the grade-matched finish coat.

Application

  • Clean, dry and sound comes first. Rust, chalk, oil, loose granules and standing water are prep, and an elastomeric coat corrects none of them.
  • Prime by substrate: a rust-inhibitive primer on metal, the acrylic concrete primer on concrete, and whatever the data sheet directs on foam.
  • Reinforce the details before the field. Seams, fastener rows, penetrations and flashings take fabric or tape bedded into this coat.
  • Apply at the rates, film build and coat count in the manufacturer’s product data sheet, inside its temperature window, and let each coat cure as the sheet requires.
  • Where this coat is the finish coat, take that role and its film build from the data sheet for the substrate you are on.

Ordering

KST041520 is stocked in the 5-gallon pail and the 55-gallon drum, and the manufacturer also makes it in a 275-gallon tote, which we order in. Stocked material ships in 1 to 3 business days; anything not on the shelf is ordered in and runs 1 to 2 weeks. Drums, pallets and the freight that carries them go through the quote form with your part numbers, quantities, site ZIP and dates. Every price here is quoted per project, and one quote can carry the primer, the base coat, the reinforcement and the finish coat.

Where it's used

  • Metal panel roofs

Screw-down and standing-seam steel over a rust-inhibitive primer, with tape or fabric bedded into this coat at the laps and the fastener rows.

  • Concrete decks

Cured concrete roof decks primed with the acrylic concrete primer, where this coat builds the film that a commercial-grade white finish coat then closes.

  • Sprayed polyurethane foam

SPF roofs, named on the substrate line alongside metal and concrete. The foam sets the prep and the data sheet sets the film build.

  • Budget-led restoration scopes

Projects specified on the commercial grade rather than the premium, where the pairing is this base coat under KST041500, the commercial-grade white finish coat.

  • Detail and flashing work

Bedding polyester fabric at penetrations, curbs and wall flashings so the reinforcement sits inside the coating rather than under it.

Questions

What separates this from KST041320?
Grade. KST041320 is the premium acrylic elastomeric and KST041520 the commercial grade. Both are gray, both are 100% acrylic elastomeric, and both are listed as a base coat or a finish coat on metal, concrete and polyurethane foam. The data sheets are where the difference is set out.
Which finish coat matches it?
KST041500, the commercial-grade acrylic elastomeric in white, is the grade-matched top layer. KST041300, the premium white, is also listed over the same substrates if the specification calls for it.
Can it be the finish coat?
The manufacturer lists it for either role on metal, concrete and polyurethane foam, so on a job where gray is the wanted color it can be the top layer. Take that decision and its film build from the data sheet.
Which primer goes under it?
The substrate decides. Metal takes KST034520 in red or KST036520 in white, concrete takes KST036500, and foam is prepared as the data sheet directs. The sheets also say where a primer is not called for.
Can it go under a silicone coating?
No. Uniflex never puts an acrylic base coat under Silicone44; its silicone specifications go from the prepared roof straight to the silicone, with a primer only where the roof type calls for one. This base coat belongs to the acrylic system, under an acrylic finish coat.
Pail, drum or tote?
Pails and drums are stocked; the manufacturer also makes it in a 275-gallon tote, which is ordered in. Pails suit details and small areas, drums suit a normal roof. Send the area and the substrate through the quote form and the quote states the pack count, the delivered price and the freight.
