Elastomeric & silicone finish coats
KST042100 Uniflex Premium Solvent-Based Elastomeric Roof Coating, White
- Solvent finish coat
- Sold by the pail
The solvent-based finish coat in the range, a premium white thermoplastic rubber coating for metal, polyurethane foam, smooth built-up, modified bitumen and granular cap sheets. Stocked in 5-gallon pails and 55-gallon drums, and shipped as regulated freight.
Key benefits
- Solvent-based thermoplastic rubber rather than an acrylic, for jobs where the specification calls for a solvent-based film
- Premium grade, white, listed over metal, polyurethane foam, smooth BUR, modified bitumen and granular cap sheets
- Its companion base coat is the gray solvent-based elastomeric, so base and finish share one chemistry
- Listed for use with reinforcing fabric or seam tape, so laps, flashings and penetrations are detailed in the same system
- Solvent-based material ships as regulated freight, quoted with the order

Overview
KST042100 is the solvent-based finish coat in the Uniflex range: a premium white thermoplastic rubber coating, listed by the manufacturer over metal, polyurethane foam, smooth built-up, modified bitumen and granular cap sheets. It is the product a specification names when an acrylic elastomeric is not what the job is buying, and it is listed for use with reinforcing fabric or seam tape at the details.
Two things follow from the chemistry. First, its companion base coat is the gray solvent-based elastomeric KST042200, so a job can keep base and finish on one resin system instead of stacking two. Second, solvent-based material is regulated for transport, which is why the freight is quoted with the order rather than printed. The manufacturer’s product data sheet governs rates, film build, recoat, cure and the conditions the coating may be applied in, and the safety data sheet governs handling and storage.
Application
- Start on a roof that is clean, dry and sound. Wash the field, clear ponded silt and loose granules, and let it dry as the data sheet requires.
- Repair first, then reinforce the details before the field: splits, open laps, flashings, penetrations and fastener rows.
- Prime by substrate. On metal that means a rust-inhibitive metal primer chosen off the data sheet for the condition of the panels.
- Base coat, then finish coat, in contrasting colors so the crew can see the pass it is applying.
- Apply at the rate, film build and coat count the manufacturer’s product data sheet states, inside the temperature and ventilation limits it sets.
Ordering
KST042100 comes in 5-gallon pails and 55-gallon drums, and the manufacturer also makes it in a 275-gallon tote, which we order in. Stocked pack sizes ship in 1 to 3 business days; anything not on the shelf is ordered in and runs 1 to 2 weeks. Because the product is solvent-based it moves as regulated freight, quoted with the order, and drums, pallet quantities and freight all go through the quote form. Every price is quoted per project. Send the part numbers, the quantities, the site ZIP code and your dates, and the price comes back with freight and a ship date.
Where it's used
-
Metal panel roofs
Standing-seam and screw-down roofs where a solvent-based system is specified, once the fasteners are dealt with, the panels are primed and the ribs, laps and fastener rows are detailed.
-
Smooth BUR and modified bitumen
Sound asphaltic roofs being recoated, where the solvent-based film is what the specification names rather than an acrylic elastomeric.
-
Granular cap sheets
Cap-sheet roofs that are structurally fine and losing their granules, prepared as the manufacturer's product data sheet requires for that surface.
-
Sprayed polyurethane foam
SPF roofs at their recoat interval, where the foam is intact and the coating is the layer taking the weather.
-
Cool-weather and quick-turn work
Jobs where a water-based coating is the wrong tool for the conditions on site. The data sheet states the application window, and it is the only figure to work from.

Questions
- Why choose a solvent-based coating over an acrylic?
- Usually because the specification says so, or because the conditions on site are outside what a water-based coating will take. The manufacturer's product data sheets for the two chemistries set out the application windows and the substrates each one covers. Send us the roof and the specification and we price what it names.
- Is it water-based?
- No. KST042100 is a solvent-based thermoplastic rubber coating. The acrylic elastomerics in the range are the water-based products. Read the safety data sheet before it comes on site.
- How does it ship?
- Solvent-based coatings are regulated for transport, so this product moves as regulated freight and the freight is quoted with the order. Tell us about site access, lift-gate needs and any delivery restrictions when you ask for a quote.
- What base coat goes under it?
- The gray solvent-based elastomeric KST042200, which the manufacturer lists as a base coat or a finish coat across the same substrates. Keeping base and finish in one chemistry is the usual reason a job buys both from the same page.
- How much material will my roof take?
- The manufacturer's product data sheet states the coverage rate and the film build per coat and per substrate. Send the square footage, the roof type and its condition and the quote works the material out for that roof.
