KST058200 Uniflex Fast-Skin Polyurethane Roofing Sealant, White, 10.1 oz Cartridge
- Fast-skin polyurethane sealant
- Sold by the case
The white fast-skin cartridge: a single-component moisture-cure polyurethane listed tack free in 40 minutes and cured in a day. Sized at 10.1 oz, 24 per case, for sheet metal, brick, wood, tile, steel and asphalt shingle details that cannot sit open.
Key benefits
- Listed tack free in 40 minutes, against 3 hours for the standard polyurethane grade
- Moisture-cure single component, so it skins with the humidity that is already on site
- Application and service both listed from -20 F to 150 F
- Listed for sheet metal, brick, wood, tile, steel and asphalt shingles
- 10.1 oz cartridges, 24 per case, in the same size as the standard grade so guns and racks do not change

Overview
Some joints cannot be left open. A bead gunned across a walkway at four in the afternoon, or on a roof with weather coming in, has to skin over before anything touches it. KST058200 is the white fast-skin cartridge in the Uniflex range, a single-component moisture-cure polyurethane that the maker lists tack free in 40 minutes.
Everything else is familiar. It is the same 10.1 oz cartridge packed 24 to the case, with application and service listed from -20 F to 150 F and full cure in a day. Its substrate list runs sheet metal, brick, wood, tile, steel and asphalt shingles. Where time is not the constraint, the standard grade KST058100 is the general-purpose choice, and KST058210 is this same fast-skin sealant in black.
Application
- Prepare a clean, dry, sound joint. Cut out failed sealant and take the surface back to sound material on both faces.
- Prime by substrate where the system asks for it, with the metal primer on steel and sheet metal and the matching primer elsewhere.
- Do the detail work first, then reinforce what the specification reinforces, then coat the open field.
- Gun and tool in shorter runs than you would with the standard grade. With a 40 minute skin time, tooling has to keep up with the gun.
- Follow the manufacturer’s product data sheet for joint preparation, bead size, cure conditions and what may go over the bead and when.
Ordering
KST058200 is sold by the 10.1 oz cartridge and by the case of 24. Stocked cases ship in 1 to 3 business days, and anything not on the shelf is ordered in and runs 1 to 2 weeks. Pallet quantities, and any pails, drums or totes on the same order, are quoted as freight through the quote form with the part numbers, quantities, site ZIP and your dates. Every price is quoted per project.

Questions
- What does fast-skin actually change?
- The time the bead stays open. The maker lists this grade tack free in 40 minutes and the standard polyurethane at 3 hours. Full cure is listed at one day for both.
- Is the substrate list the same as the standard grade?
- Close, but not identical. This grade lists sheet metal, brick, wood, tile, steel and asphalt shingles. The standard grade lists steel, aluminum, coated metal (Kynar), masonry, wood and asphalt shingles.
- Does moisture cure mean it needs a wet surface?
- No. It cures using moisture in the air, and the joint itself should be clean, dry and sound. The manufacturer's product data sheet gives the conditions it wants.
- Can it be coated over?
- The data sheets for the sealant and the coating decide that, including how long the bead needs first. Read both before the system goes over a fresh detail.
- Which colors are there?
- White as KST058200 and black as KST058210. If you need gray, the standard polyurethane grade covers it as KST058120.
