Overview
On a black roof, a white repair is a permanent record of the repair. KST058210 is the black cartridge of the Uniflex fast-skin polyurethane, so a detail closed in a hurry still looks like part of the roof rather than a mark on it.
The fast-skin grade is a single-component moisture-cure polyurethane, listed tack free in 40 minutes against the 3 hours the standard grade takes, with full cure at one day and application and service both listed from -20 F to 150 F. Its substrate list covers sheet metal, brick, wood, tile, steel and asphalt shingles. The white version is KST058200, and where open time is not a problem the standard black cartridge KST058110 is usually the cheaper way to fill a joint.
Application
- Work into a clean, dry, sound joint. Failed sealant comes out, scale and dirt come off, and oily metal gets degreased.
- Prime by substrate where the system requires it: a rust-inhibitive primer on steel, and the matching primer on other surfaces.
- Handle the details before the field is coated, reinforcing the ones the specification reinforces with tape or fabric.
- Keep the gun and the tooling together. At 40 minutes to skin, a long run gunned before any tooling will set up first.
- Follow the manufacturer’s product data sheet for joint design, bead size, cure conditions and anything applied over the bead.
Ordering
KST058210 is sold by the 10.1 oz cartridge and the case of 24. Stocked cases leave in 1 to 3 business days; a color that is off the shelf is ordered in on a 1 to 2 week lead. Pallets, and the drums or totes of coating that ship with them, go through the quote form as freight, with the part numbers, quantities, site ZIP and your dates. Prices are quoted per project, never printed.
Where it's used
-
Service calls on dark roofs
Repairs on modified bitumen, dark metal and shingle roofs where the bead is the finished surface and the crew cannot wait hours for it to skin.
-
Late-day and pre-weather work
Joints closed at the end of a shift or ahead of forecast rain, where a shorter open time is the whole point.
-
Sheet metal and steel details
Fastener rows, panel laps, gutter joints and trim on sheet metal and steel, which the maker lists among the substrates.
-
Brick, tile and timber details
Parapet brick, tile terminations, nailers and blocking, where the joint moves and the bead has to stay flexible.
-
Walkway and access routes
Details on routes the crew keeps using, where an open bead would be tracked across the roof.

Questions
- How is this different from KST058110?
- KST058110 is the standard black polyurethane, listed tack free in 3 hours. This one is the moisture-cure fast-skin version, listed at 40 minutes, with a slightly different substrate list.
- Which substrates does it list?
- Sheet metal, brick, wood, tile, steel and asphalt shingles, plus other common roof substrates. Coated metal (Kynar) and masonry are called out on the standard grade instead.
- Is it right for EPDM, TPO or PVC?
- No. Those membranes are on the MS hybrid list: the black KST058310 over aged TPO and PVC as they are, the white over TPO and PVC primed with KST058700.
- Can the bead be coated over?
- It depends on the coating and on how long the bead has cured. The manufacturer's product data sheets for the sealant and the coating are the reference; check both before coating a fresh detail.
- How is it packed?
- 10.1 oz cartridges, 24 to the case, one color per case. Cases and part cases both go on the quote request.
