Reinforcing fabrics & seam tapes
KST20385A Uniflex Polyester Reinforcing Fabric, 6 in × 324 ft
- Reinforcing fabric
- 6 in × 324 ft
- Sold by the roll
The narrow width in the Uniflex fabric family: 6 in wide, 324 ft to the roll, one roll per case. It is bedded into a wet coat and coated over, so seams, fastener rows and pipe details finish with the fabric inside the film rather than under it.
Key benefits
- A 6 in width follows narrow work: panel seams, screw lines, conduit, small pipe boots and tight flashing returns
- One roll runs 324 ft, so a long lap is reinforced without a joint every few feet
- White polyester, listed by the maker for the three-course method with elastomeric or emulsion coatings
- One roll per case, which keeps takeoff by the linear foot straightforward
- The same fabric comes 12 in wide as KST20385B and 40 in wide as KST020385

Overview
Coating work is won or lost at the details. A seam, a screw line or a pipe collar moves and weathers differently from the open field of a roof, and the answer on a Uniflex system is polyester fabric bedded into the coating rather than laid under it. KST20385A is the narrow width of that fabric: 6 in across, 324 ft to the roll, one roll per case.
This is the roll a crew reaches for most often, because most details are narrow. It runs the length of a lap or a fastener row, wraps a conduit, and takes a curb return without being cut down first. Wider details are easier in the 12 in KST20385B or the 40 in KST020385, which are the same white polyester on the same 324 ft roll length.
Application
- Start on a surface that is clean, dry and sound. Loose coating, rust scale, grease and dirt come off before anything goes down.
- Prime by substrate under an acrylic system: metal takes a rust-inhibitive metal primer, concrete an acrylic concrete primer, EPDM the wash primer. Under Silicone44, cured concrete takes no primer, and its wider cracks are reinforced with this fabric.
- Reinforce the details before the field gets its coats. Work the fabric into a wet coat, press out wrinkles and trapped air, then coat over it.
- Lap the fabric where two runs meet, and keep those laps clear of the paths water takes to the drains.
- Follow the manufacturer’s product data sheet for coverage rates, film build, lap widths and how long each coat needs before the next one.
Ordering
KST20385A is sold as a 6 in × 324 ft roll, one roll per case. Stocked rolls ship in 1 to 3 business days, and anything not on the shelf is ordered in and takes 1 to 2 weeks. Pallet quantities, drums and totes on the same order, and anything moving by freight, go through the quote form with the part numbers, the site ZIP and your dates. Every price is quoted per project, so the fabric, the base coat and the finish coats are priced together.
Where it's used
-
Seams and panel laps
Side and end laps on metal panels, modified bitumen and single-ply, three-coursed into the base coat so the lap carries fabric through the film.
-
Fastener rows
Screw lines on panel roofs, where a 6 in strip covers the whole row in one pass instead of treating each head on its own.
-
Pipe boots and small penetrations
Vents, conduit and drain collars, where the narrow width can be cut and worked around the shape without bunching.
-
Flashing returns and terminations
Short returns at curbs, reglets and wall terminations, where a wider roll would have to be trimmed down before it would sit flat.
-
General roof repairs
The listed use covers general repair as well as detail work, worked in by the three-course method with elastomeric or emulsion coatings from the same range.

Questions
- What is the three-course method?
- A coat of material, the fabric laid into it while it is still wet, then a second coat over the top, so the fabric ends up inside the film. The manufacturer's product data sheet gives the film build and the coverage for each step.
- Which width should I buy?
- 6 in for panel seams, screw lines and pipe work. 12 in (KST20385B) for flashings and wider laps. 40 in (KST020385) for broad details and field reinforcement. All three are 324 ft rolls.
- How much fabric will the roof take?
- That depends on how many details are reinforced and whether the specification reinforces the field as well. Send the detail count or the drawings with your request and the quote counts rolls from that.
- Does the fabric need a coat over it?
- Yes. It is a reinforcement layer, not a finished surface. The coat it is bedded into and the coat that goes over it are both part of the system the data sheet sets out.
- Is it held in stock?
- Fabric is a stocked item. Stocked rolls ship in 1 to 3 business days; anything not on the shelf is ordered in and runs 1 to 2 weeks.
