KST058700 Uniflex TPO and PVC Adhesion Promoter, Clear, 14 oz Aerosol
- Adhesion promoter
- Sold by the case
A clear solvent-based primer in a 14 oz aerosol, six cans per case, with one job: preparing TPO and PVC membranes for the Uniflex MS hybrid roofing sealant. Applied from 0 F to 100 F. It is an aerosol, so it ships as regulated freight.
Key benefits
- The step the white MS hybrid's substrate list requires, since it reads primed TPO and primed PVC rather than TPO and PVC
- An aerosol, so a crew can prepare scattered details without a pail, a brush or a rag
- Applied from 0 F to 100 F, per the maker
- Clear, so it does not change the color of a white or gray membrane
- 14 oz cans, six per case, and one can covers a lot of detail work

Overview
This is the smallest item in the range and the one most likely to be forgotten on a Friday order. The white MS hybrid sealant’s substrate list does not say TPO and PVC, it says primed TPO and primed PVC, and KST058700 is what does the priming: a clear solvent-based promoter in a 14 oz aerosol, six cans to the case.
Being an aerosol matters on a roof with details scattered across it. There is no pail to carry, no brush to clean, and nothing to mix, so a crew can prepare twenty boot collars in the time a brush-applied primer takes to set up. The maker lists application from 0 F to 100 F, which is a wider window than the MS hybrid sealants themselves, listed at 30 F to 120 F. The black MS hybrid is now listed over aged TPO and PVC as they are, with a primer only on new membrane. On EPDM no promoter is listed, it is not for Hypalon, and under a coating on EPDM the Bond-It wash primer does the cleaning.
Application
- Start with membrane that is clean, dry and sound, cleaned of dirt, chalk and residue the way the data sheet requires.
- Prime by substrate: this aerosol for TPO and PVC, nothing for EPDM, and the stated preparation on coated metal.
- Do the detail preparation first, then the sealant, then any reinforcement or coating work the specification calls for.
- Spray a thin, even pass only where the sealant or tape will sit, and let it flash off for the time the data sheet states before gunning.
- Follow the manufacturer’s product data sheet for surface preparation, flash-off time and the window in which the sealant must follow.
Ordering
KST058700 is sold by the 14 oz can and by the case of six. Stocked cases ship in 1 to 3 business days, and anything off the shelf is ordered in and takes 1 to 2 weeks. It is an aerosol, so it ships as regulated freight, quoted with the order. Send the part numbers, quantities, site ZIP and your dates through the quote form, and cartridges, tapes and coating on the same order are priced with it. Every price is quoted per project.
Where it's used
-
TPO detail preparation
Seams, patches, boot collars and terminations on TPO, sprayed before the white MS hybrid sealant so the membrane is primed as its substrate list requires.
-
PVC detail preparation
The same step on PVC membranes, where unprimed PVC is not on the white MS hybrid sealant's list of substrates.
-
Scattered service work
Service calls with details spread across a roof, where an aerosol is faster than carrying and cleaning brushes.
-
Cold-weather membrane work
Preparation down to the listed 0 F application limit, ahead of MS hybrid sealant work within its own 30 F to 120 F range.
-
Curb and penetration collars
Equipment curbs, pipe sleeves and drain collars on single-ply roofs, primed where the sealant bead will go.

Questions
- Do I always need the promoter on TPO or PVC?
- For the white MS hybrid sealant, yes: its substrate list reads primed TPO and primed PVC. The black KST058310's current data sheet lists aged TPO and PVC as they are and asks for a primer only on new membrane, so for new TPO or PVC ask us which primer before you order. It is for TPO and PVC only: not EPDM, and not Hypalon.
- Is it needed on EPDM?
- No. EPDM appears on the MS hybrid list without a promoter. This aerosol is for TPO and PVC.
- How much does one can prepare?
- It is a thin primer sprayed only where the bead will sit, so a 14 oz can goes a long way on detail work. The data sheet gives the coverage; send the detail count with your request and the quote sets the can count.
- Can it be used under the coatings as well?
- Its stated job is preparing TPO and PVC for the MS hybrid sealant. Under a coating the preparation goes by membrane: on EPDM the Bond-It wash primer, on weathered TPO and PVC a wash and an adhesion test, then Silicone44 directly or the single-ply base coat under an acrylic finish.
- How does it ship?
- It is an aerosol, so it ships as regulated freight, quoted with the order. Stocked cases go out in 1 to 3 business days.
