KST041220 Uniflex Acrylic Patching Cement, White
- Patching cement
- Sold by the pail
The white acrylic patching cement in the Uniflex line, for the detail work that comes before a coating: metal roof seams, penetration and wall flashings, and the small holes, splits, cracks and blisters in BUR, modified bitumen, polyurethane foam and concrete. Sold in 2 and 5-gallon pails.
Key benefits
- Acrylic elastomeric resin rather than asphalt, so the patch stays in the same chemistry family as the acrylic coating system over it
- Listed for use with polyester fabric or seam tape, which is how a detail is properly built: cement, reinforcement, cement
- Broad substrate line: metal seams, penetration and wall flashings, and holes, splits, cracks and blisters in BUR, modified bitumen, foam and concrete
- White, so a patch under a white or light finish coat does not read through the field
- Two pack sizes, the 2-gallon and 5-gallon pails, which fits both a punch list and a full detail scope

Overview
Most roof failures are detail failures, and KST041220 is the Uniflex material for details. It is a white acrylic elastomeric patching cement, and its substrate line is a fair description of a punch list: metal roof seams, penetration and wall flashings, and the small holes, splits, cracks and blisters in built-up, modified bitumen, polyurethane foam and concrete.
What makes it the right patch under an acrylic system is chemistry as much as geometry. The resin is acrylic, so the patch and the coating are relatives, and the data sheet lists it for use with polyester fabric or seam tape, which is the three-course method. We stock it in 2 and 5-gallon pails with KST20385A 6-inch fabric, KST020385 40-inch fabric, KST041510 MB base coat and KST041300 as the finish coat.
Application
- Work on a clean, dry, sound surface. A blister gets cut and dried, a split gets cleaned out, and loose granules or rust come off before any cement goes down.
- Details come first, before the field. Everything on the punch list gets closed and reinforced while the roof is still open to inspection.
- Prime by substrate where the manufacturer’s product data sheet calls for it; metal, concrete and single ply each have their own primer in this line.
- Build the detail as the sheet describes: cement, polyester fabric or seam tape bedded into it, then cement over the reinforcement.
- Follow the manufacturer’s product data sheet for rates, film build, cure times and the window before the base coat goes over the patch.
Ordering
KST041220 is stocked in the 2-gallon and 5-gallon pails. Stocked material ships in 1 to 3 business days; anything not on the shelf is ordered in and runs 1 to 2 weeks. Pallets of pails, the drums and totes of base coat and finish coat, and the freight for all of it go through the quote form with your part numbers, quantities, site ZIP and dates. Send the detail schedule with the roof area and the quote prices the patch work and the system together; every price here is quoted per project.
Where it's used
-
Metal roof seams
Laps, ribs and fastener rows on panel roofs, where the cement beds a tape or a strip of fabric before the base coat runs over the whole detail.
-
Penetration and wall flashings
Stacks, curbs, conduit, drains and the wall flashings around them, which is where most roofs actually leak and where the three-course method earns its keep.
-
Holes, splits and cracks
Small openings in built-up, modified bitumen, polyurethane foam and concrete surfaces, closed and reinforced ahead of the base coat rather than left for it.
-
Blisters on BUR and modified bitumen
Cut, dried and patched blisters on smooth built-up and modified bitumen roofs, so the field coating is not asked to bridge a void.
-
Foam roof repair
Damaged areas of sprayed polyurethane foam, which the substrate line covers alongside the asphaltic and concrete surfaces.

Questions
- What is the three-course method?
- A coat of cement, a layer of polyester fabric bedded into it, then a second coat of cement over the fabric. The reinforcement ends up inside the patch rather than under it. KST20385A is the 6-inch fabric and KST020385 the 40-inch roll.
- Is this the same as the wet-dry roof cement?
- No. KST058600 is a black asphalt cement listed for asphaltic substrates, wet or dry. KST041220 is a white acrylic elastomeric, which is what you want under an acrylic coating system and where color matters.
- Do I still need a base coat over the patches?
- The patch closes and reinforces a detail; the base coat and finish coat are the system over the whole roof. KST041510 in white and KST041300 as a finish coat are the usual pair on smooth BUR and modified bitumen.
- 2 gallon or 5 gallon?
- The 2-gallon pail suits a punch list of details and short shelf time; the 5-gallon suits a full flashing and seam scope. Both are stocked, and the quote states the count once you send the detail schedule.
- How fast does it cure?
- The manufacturer product data sheet states the rates, the film build and the cure times, and they change with temperature and humidity. We supply the material and the sheet rather than a number of our own.
