KST0SLPBD Uniflex Slope Builder Compound, Gray

  • Slope builder
  • Sold by the pail

The Uniflex build-up for the parts of a roof that hold water. A powder, 40 lb in a 5-gallon pail, mixed with water on site into a cementitious slurry, it builds crickets around rooftop equipment and fills low areas near drains, in valleys and along parapet walls before a coating system goes on.

Key benefits

  • Solves the problem a coating cannot: standing water in a low spot stays standing under a new film unless the slope is corrected first
  • A powder, not a ready-to-use liquid: 40 lb in a 5-gallon pail, mixed with water on site into a cementitious slurry
  • Built for the named details: crickets around HVAC and rooftop equipment, plus low areas near drains, in valleys and along parapet walls
  • Gray, so the corrected areas are visible until the next coat covers them
  • Under the acrylic system it sits below the base coat; under Silicone44 no specification names it, so the adhesion test and Uniflex decide

Overview

Every flat roof has a few places that hold water, and no coating fixes geometry. KST0SLPBD is the Uniflex build-up for those places, used to form crickets around HVAC and rooftop equipment and to make up low-lying areas near drains, in valleys and along parapet walls before a fluid-applied system goes on. It is not a liquid out of the pail: it comes as 40 lb of gray powder in a 5-gallon pail and is mixed with water on site into a cementitious slurry.

It belongs to the prep stage, not the finish stage. Slope correction, patching and reinforcement all happen while the roof is still open, and the coats then run across a surface that drains. Under the acrylic system we stock it with KST041220 acrylic patching cement and KST020385 polyester fabric for the rest of the detail work, and KST041320 and KST041300 as the base coat and finish coat above it. Under Silicone44 no Uniflex silicone specification names it, so the adhesion test and Uniflex decide; ask us before you plan it into a silicone job.

Application

  • Start on a clean, dry, sound surface. Debris in a valley or around a drain comes out first, and anything unbonded comes off.
  • Mix the powder with water to the consistency the manufacturer’s product data sheet describes, and mix only what can be placed while it is workable.
  • Correct the slope before anything else in the detail sequence, then patch and reinforce, then coat. Doing it in the other order wastes the material.
  • Build in the lifts the manufacturer’s product data sheet allows, at its rates and inside its temperature window, and let each lift cure as the sheet requires.
  • Coat over it. The compound is preparation for a fluid-applied system, and the data sheets set the recoat windows for the layers above.

Ordering

KST0SLPBD comes as 40 lb of powder in a 5-gallon pail. Stocked material ships in 1 to 3 business days; anything not on the shelf is ordered in and runs 1 to 2 weeks. Pallets of pails, the drums and totes of base coat and finish coat that follow, and the freight for all of it go through the quote form with your part numbers, quantities, site ZIP and dates. Send the locations and rough areas with the roof and the quote covers the prep and the system; every price here is quoted per project.

Where it's used

  • Crickets behind rooftop equipment

The wedge that moves water around an HVAC unit, a curb or a duct support instead of letting it sit behind it. This is the use the manufacturer names first.

  • Ponding near drains

Low-lying areas around roof drains and scuppers, built up so the water reaches the outlet rather than stopping short of it.

  • Valleys and dead-flat areas

Shallow valleys and flat spots between drains where the fall was never right, corrected before the base coat rather than after.

  • Along parapet walls

The strip against a parapet where debris collects and water lingers, named on the use line alongside drains and valleys.

  • Prep for an acrylic system

Used before the coating system goes on: slope first, then the primer, base coat and finish coat. Under Silicone44 no Uniflex silicone specification names it, so ask us and let the adhesion test and Uniflex decide.

Questions

Why not just coat over the low spot?
Because a coating follows the surface it is put on. Water that ponded before will pond after, on top of the new film. The Slope Builder corrects the shape first so the coating is asked only to be a coating.
Does it come ready to use?
No. It is a powder, 40 lb in a 5-gallon pail, mixed with water on site into a cementitious slurry. The manufacturer's product data sheet gives the water to add and how to mix it.
Where exactly is it used?
The manufacturer names roof crickets around HVAC and rooftop equipment, and building up low-lying areas near drains, in valleys and along parapet walls, all before a fluid-applied system goes on.
Can it be left exposed?
It is described as a build-up used ahead of a coating system, so plan on coating over it. Under the acrylic system, KST041320 as a base coat and KST041300 as a finish coat are the usual layers above it on metal, concrete and foam.
Can it go under Silicone44?
No Uniflex silicone specification names it under Silicone44. Silicone44 is the Uniflex coating made for areas where water stands, but it still expects at least 1/4 in per ft of slope and working drains. Under silicone, the adhesion test and Uniflex decide whether a build-up like this one belongs, so ask us before you order it for a silicone job.
How much do I need?
It depends on the area and the depth to be made up, and the manufacturer product data sheet states the build per coat. Send the locations, the areas and rough depths through the quote form and the quote states the pail count.
Do you survey the roof to find the low spots?
Not by walking it. We are a stocking supplier and an authorized reseller of the Sherwin-Williams Uniflex line: we hold, quote and ship the material, and we can arrange a drone moisture scan, whose daylight and thermal images often show where water stands. Locating the low spots and deciding the build still belong to the contractor and the specifier on the roof.
