Reinforcing fabrics & seam tapes
KST20385B Uniflex Polyester Reinforcing Fabric, 12 in × 324 ft
- Reinforcing fabric
- 12 in × 324 ft
- Sold by the roll
The middle width of the Uniflex polyester fabric, 12 in across and 324 ft long, one roll per case. Twelve inches covers a flashing return, a parapet base or a wide modified bitumen lap in a single pass, embedded in a wet coat and coated over.
Key benefits
- Twelve inches spans a flashing detail in one piece, so a curb or wall base needs no second strip alongside the first
- 324 ft on the roll and one roll per case, the same length as the 6 in and 40 in widths
- White polyester listed for the three-course method with Uniflex elastomeric and emulsion coatings
- Held in stock with the base coats it is bedded into, so detail and field material can travel together
- The narrow KST20385A and the broad KST020385 cover the same range at 6 in and 40 in

Overview
Twelve inches is the flashing width. A parapet base, a curb, an end lap or a repaired split needs reinforcement that reaches well past the joint on both sides, and cutting that out of a narrow roll leaves a seam in the reinforcement itself. KST20385B is 12 in of white Uniflex polyester on a 324 ft roll, one roll per case.
It behaves the same way as the rest of the family: bedded into a wet coat, worked flat, and coated over so the fabric sits inside the film. Most roofs end up buying two widths, the narrow KST20385A for seams and pipe work and this one for the flashings, with the 40 in KST020385 added when the specification reinforces broad areas.
Application
- Work on a clean, dry, sound surface. Scrape off loose coating and rust scale, and get grease and dirt off before any material goes down.
- Prime according to the substrate: a metal primer on panels and gutters, a concrete primer on cured concrete under an acrylic system, the wash primer on EPDM only.
- Reinforce details first. Flashings, curbs, laps and drains take their fabric and their coats before the open field is coated.
- Press the fabric into the wet coat so it wets through, with no wrinkles, bridging or air pockets at the angle of a return.
- Follow the manufacturer’s product data sheet for coverage, film build, lap widths and the time each coat needs before the next.
Ordering
KST20385B comes as a single 12 in × 324 ft roll, one roll per case. Stocked rolls ship in 1 to 3 business days, and a width that is off the shelf is ordered in on a 1 to 2 week lead. Pallets, drums and totes on the same order and anything that has to move by freight are handled through the quote form; send the part numbers, quantities, site ZIP and your dates. Prices are quoted per project rather than listed.
Where it's used
-
Parapet and wall bases
The angle where the roof turns up a parapet or a wall, where 12 in gives enough material to carry up the vertical and out onto the deck in one piece.
-
Equipment curbs
Curb bases under rooftop units, vents and smoke hatches, three-coursed into the base coat before the field coats go on.
-
Wide laps and splits
End laps on modified bitumen and repaired splits, where the reinforcement has to cover both sides of the joint with margin to spare.
-
Drain and scupper surrounds
The flat run of material around a roof drain bowl or a scupper throat, worked into the coat and coated over.
-
General roof repairs
Listed for general repair as well as detail work, in the three-course method with elastomeric or emulsion coatings from the same range.

Questions
- When is 12 in the right width?
- When the detail is wider than a seam. Flashing returns, parapet bases, curb bases and end laps usually take 12 in; panel seams and pipe collars are easier in the 6 in KST20385A.
- Can I cut this roll down to a narrower strip?
- Crews do, but a cut edge frays and wastes material. If most of the work is narrow, buy the 6 in roll for it and keep the 12 in for flashings.
- Which coats does it go into?
- The elastomeric and emulsion coatings in the same range. The base coat carries the fabric and the coat over it locks it in; the manufacturer's product data sheet states the film build and coverage for each pass.
- How many rolls will I need?
- Count the linear feet of flashing, curb and lap to be reinforced, add the laps, and divide by 324. Send the drawings or the detail counts and the quote works out the rolls.
- How fast does it ship?
- Stocked rolls leave in 1 to 3 business days. If the width is off the shelf when your order lands, it is ordered in and takes 1 to 2 weeks.
